I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I'm taking Hawaiian 101 this semester. We often play games in the class, and this past Thursday we ended up playing speed Scrabble in Hawaiian. Usually when we play games for points, our teacher separates us into groups based on skill level. So he puts all the Hawaiian speakers who are just in the class for fun in one group, and then he groups the other Hawaiians by their skill levels (most of them at least know a lot of words because they grew up in Hawaii), and then the last group is the white person group. Well, this past Thursday as he was grouping us together for our speed Scrabble match, he graduated me out of the white person group and stuck me in the lowest Hawaiian group!
I was pretty pleased with myself. I even came in second in one round. Probably mostly due to the fact that I am good at Scrabble, and not that I am good at Hawaiian.
The other thing I did was today I figured out how to make our wifi secure. I don't know why I didn't do that a year ago when I moved in here, but now we finally have our own wifi that the rest of the neighborhood can't steal. And while I was at it I figured out how to make .zip files so I could send Tim the wedding announcements I created yesterday.
Also, my work finally pays me over $10/hour.
I feel so accomplished.
